    Default Tire size

I just bought a 1972 Scout II. It as 4 different tires and I can't figure out what tire size to get. Manual goes from E78-15 to H78-15. How does that translate to today's sizes? Wheels are stock, so what fits?

    Default tire sizes

    E-78 x 15 crosses to a 195/75 x 15. The H-78 x 15 crosses to a 225/75 x 15.
The 225/75 x 15 is shown at 28.5" diameter. Is approved for the 6" to 8" width rim. The next taller tire = 235/75 is just over 29" diameter and is approved for the 6" to 8.5 width rim.
Take into consideration the final gears in the differentials as the taller tire is like going to a taller gear. That additional .5 larger diameter will lower the tire revolutions by 15 over a 1 mile distance. What engine and transmission. What conditions do intend to be driving?
Different brand tires will be slightly different diameter for the same size designation. Consider 'light truck' radial tires over 'passenger car' radial tires. Watch the date the tires were made.
