    Default 1976 harvester loadstar 1800 transmission

    I need to know what trans i have. The only number i found was on the left side (driver side) it is 4D06 it is a 5 speed. The last 8 of the vin # FHA24792. I have a 345 W/ 4bl holly. The # on trans was above fill plug. I am waiting on international to call me back. All i need is 4 & 5 shift fork but need to know what i have HELP PLEASE!!! Mike

    The IH dealer should be able to call you back with the right information if you gave them the VIN. If not, the Wisconsin Historical Society has the old line set tickets by VIN, and I think they have them for the mediums as well. They will be able to provide a build sheet for about 20 bucks. They're on microfilm, so it costs money to print them out. The type of transmission will be on that line set ticket. I don't know what type they used on the loadstars in those days, but I was thinking a T436, which would have a direct 5th gear and a deep granny gear.

    Thanks Allan E. Yea they said last night i had a 84 with a 6.2 diesel and a spicer trans. Today they had to call there tech people to help them. Is there a number to call the historical society or a web site Thanks again. Mike

    The number I have is 608 264 6410. I don't know how old it is, but it's probably still good.
    The serial number of the vehicle is also on the frame, driver's side, just behind the front spring hanger, outboard.

    Well i have a T 496 according to the historical society build sheet. Now i need the 4 & 5 gear fork. IH says they can't get them I have 3 #'s 1st 2 ar IH # 508055C91 is the older one 508054C1 then a Spicer # 37-66-33 Thats all i got can someone help me find the shift forks. Thanks Mike

    Just found out that a t 699 will work with the t 496 and is a better trans. Found fork in ILL for 190.00 but i think i can find cheaper i hope. I would buy a hole trans, they go for 350 if they have one here in missouri. But if anybody knows of any let me know

    Just ordered a fork from Truck parts Co in Chicago IL. 125.00 If any body needs info Roy up there knows alot the # is 18004825554. Also there is a place in lebanon MO called Zebel's Truck salvage # 4175324942 He will go look and let you know what he has. he has a lot of medium duty 1990 back to 1960 1700 and 1600 loadstars other models and 2 scouts and he said the scouts had been picked but still some good parts.     I DID have a whole school bus FULL of tranny part's.but that was 5-6 years ago.now they're melted.jeff
